Past Life — A Guided Shamanic Cacao Journey to the Upper Realm (Cacao Optional)

Today's journey takes us up into the upper realms to connect with a past life. If you'd like to work with some ceremonial cacao, it can help facilitate the journey and the integration afterwards — but it's just as fine to come as you are, perhaps with a cup of tea, or nothing at all.

The Temple and the Room of Reflections

Once we've journeyed up into the upper realm, we call for a spirit guide — always good to have company somewhere new — and ask them to take us to the Temple of Reflections. Inside, in a room lined with mirrors, we choose one and look in. What we see, we watch like a scene on a screen, noticing significant moments rather than trying to analyse them in real time.

It's worth setting honest expectations here: full cinematic clarity, like watching a movie inside your mind, is genuinely rare. Some people see clearly. Others sense it in the body, or simply know something, or hear it rather than see it. However it comes through for you is exactly the right way for you.

What You Might Find

What surfaces in the room of reflections varies enormously. Sometimes it's a story of trauma you're still recovering from. Sometimes it's a pattern of behaviour you're still repeating, still aligning with, without quite knowing why. Sometimes — and this is one of my favourite possibilities — it's a memory of a gift you carried in that life, one worth reclaiming and using more fully in this one.

As a hypnotherapist as well as a shamanic practitioner, I've guided many people through past life regression over the years, and one thing I've noticed consistently: not everyone comes from planet Earth. Some describe a different star system. Some describe something closer to pure source energy — a bright white light rather than a human form at all. Come genuinely open-minded about where — and when — you might find yourself.

In shamanic and Buddhist traditions, past and future aren't as separate as we usually assume; everything is understood to be happening at once. So what surfaces today may be a past life, or it may just as easily be a glimpse of a future one. I've visited both. Stay open to whichever this journey offers you.

How the Journey Works

We begin by cleansing the energy field and calling in the sacred directions, the way we always do. Once the gongs begin, they help activate both hemispheres of the brain together, opening the way for information to come through however it wants to — visually, somatically, as a felt sense in the body, or as sound.

To travel up into the upper realm, you'll need to find your own way to ascend — a spiral staircase, a rope ladder, a tree to climb, even a magic carpet, whatever your imagination offers. My own way tends to be climbing a tree until I get stuck, at which point spirit throws down a rope ladder and I climb the rest of the way. However you get there is exactly right.

Coming Back: Integration and Reflection

Before I let you go, we close the directions together, and then it's time to journal. I'd really encourage writing as soon as you can — the way you would after waking from a vivid dream — and then rereading it, adding to it if more comes through. I have journals going back twenty-five, thirty years, and I still find they teach me something new each time I return to them. What doesn't make sense today might make perfect sense in a month, or a year.

How to Prepare

  • Optional: a cup of ceremonial cacao, or a cup of tea if you'd prefer — the journey works fully either way

  • Find somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down

  • Good headphones or speakers make a real difference

  • Keep a journal nearby — and don't throw old ones away, they're worth returning to

  • Come genuinely open-minded about what, or where, or when you might find
