Ancient Ancestors — A Guided Shamanic Cacao Journey (Cacao Optional)

Today's journey isn't about the ancestors we remember — the grandparents, the great-grandparents, the people whose faces we might still recall. We're travelling much further back: two, three, even four thousand years, to a time when woolly mammoths still roamed the land. If you'd like to share some cacao with me for this one, wonderful; if you'd prefer something else, that's entirely fine too. The one thing that matters is staying well hydrated — we'll be working with the gongs, and the body needs enough fluid for that vibration to move freely.

Calling in the Directions

As we call in the sacred directions with the Mayan medicine wheel, each one carries its own relationship with our ancestral lineage. In the West, we call on Mama Jaguar to guide us into whatever shadow parts of our lineage need to be seen and brought into the light — not to dwell there, but so we can heal and integrate what's been carried. In the North, we call on Hummingbird, and on our ancestors both past and yet to be born, asking to be reminded to trust our path, to only accept the sweetest nectar, the best that life has to offer.

Reclaiming a Deeper Connection

This journey reaches back before more recent history — to a time many of us sense, even if we can't name it, when people lived more simply at one with nature, honouring their spiritual divinity without needing to hide it. With the support of our ancestors, we can reclaim some of that power, heal collective wounds carried down the generations, and step more fully into our authentic, connected, creative selves.

How the Journey Works

We begin by cleansing the energy field in three layers — the heart, the emotional body, and the physical self — gathering love and light and washing it out through the aura, down into the earth. From there we call in the directions one by one, sharing our cacao with each as we go, before I guide you into the journey itself to meet your ancient ancestors directly.

Once you've connected, there's a question worth asking before you return: how can I be of service to my ancient ancestors? Is there anything they'd like me to do to honour them, to help heal the lineage, to help heal any wounds that have been carried through? The answer might be simple, or it might open up more questions than it answers — either way, it's worth asking.

Coming Back: Integration and Reflection

Once the ceremony closes, take time to review and integrate whatever came through. I'd really encourage journaling all your messages while they're still fresh — this kind of ancestral information can be easy to lose if it isn't captured soon after the journey ends.

How to Prepare

  • Optional: a cup of ceremonial cacao — the journey works fully with or without it

  • Stay well hydrated — this matters for how the gongs land in the body

  • Find somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down

  • Good headphones or speakers make a real difference

  • Keep a journal nearby for afterwards

  • Come with an open mind and a curious spirit
