Take the Reins this Year
The Fire Horse Year Encourages us!
After more than thirty years working as a therapist, I’ve learned that while most people want change, the subconscious mind resists it fiercely. Not because it’s lazy, but because it’s loyal. It keeps repeating behaviours that once helped us survive — even when they now limit us.
This is where divine timing can assist.
In Chinese astrology, time isn’t neutral.
Each year carries a specific quality that either supports growth or challenges it.
Fire Horse years are known for amplifying momentum.
They don’t create problems — they expose them.
They don’t cause change — they accelerate it.
The Horse symbolises forward movement, independence, and truth in action. Fire adds urgency, courage, and activation. Together, they create a year that pushes what is unconscious into awareness and asks us to respond.
This is why Fire Horse years often feel intense.
Old coping strategies stop working.
Distraction loses its effectiveness.
Patterns that could once be managed now demand attention.
And while this can feel uncomfortable, it is also the precise point at which deeper healing becomes possible.
How My Own Path Met This Kind of Energy
My own healing journey began in a very grounded, scientific way.
In my early twenties, my health was in a poor state, and herbal medicine quite literally saved me. As my body healed, a deeper question emerged:
How can we truly change — and how can I support others to do so?
This led me to train as a Medical Herbalist and a Hypnotherapist. Halfway through that four-year programme, I met a shaman who took me on as an apprentice. Over time, my training expanded to include aromatherapy and massage, hypnohealing and hypnobirthing, Reiki, Seichem, EFT, psychosynthesis, and sound healing.
Each of these modalities offers genuine tools for healing.
What I discovered, however, was that shamanism wove everything together.
Shamanic practice works directly with the subconscious, the nervous system, and the unseen influences that shape our lives. It naturally integrates herbal medicine, hypnosis, and sound — not as separate techniques, but as one coherent way of working.
Through this path, I accessed layers of myself that had been hidden: early imprints formed before conscious memory, ancestral and epigenetic patterns, and deep beliefs about safety, worth, and power.
By bringing awareness to these layers, real change became possible.
Not perfection — but movement.
Not fixing — but remembering.
A steady return to health, balance, confidence, and the ability to inhabit my own power.
In my experience, nothing works as thoroughly or as sustainably.
Why the Circle Matters — Especially Now
One truth has remained constant throughout my work: the power of the circle.
When people gather in a safe, well-held space — when they are seen, heard, and reflected — something fundamental softens.
Trust returns. Perspective widens. Often, wounds we didn’t even know we were carrying begin to release.
Fire Horse years amplify this process.
Without support, the energy can feel chaotic.
With the right container, it becomes catalytic.
This is why this year is such a potent time to step into a deeper, held journey — and why The Shaman’s Way: 13 Moons Journey feels particularly aligned now.
Choosing How You Ride This Year
We are standing at the threshold of a powerful year, and the Fire Horse asks a very practical question:
Who is leading your life right now — habit, circumstance, or conscious choice?
Whether you work with me, with another teacher, or entirely on your own, my encouragement is the same: lead this year deliberately.
Decide what you are growing towards.
Give your energy to something that genuinely supports the person you want to be one year from now.
And if you would like guidance — a safe, structured, and deeply transformational container — I would love to walk with you.
The Shaman’s Way: 13 Moons Journey begins at the Spring Equinox in March. It carries participants through a full year of healing, initiation, learning, and remembering — supported by ancient teachings passed to me from the shamans of the High Andes and the Amazonian jungles.
Every year I host this training, people change.
And every year, it changes me too.
A Surprising Message from the Fire Horse
Recently, I journeyed to meet the spirit of the Fire Horse.
I expected something direct — perhaps even demanding.
Take action. Stop avoiding the hard things. Move.
Instead, I was met by a group of playful horses.
They reminded me of something very simple and very real: horses need rest, nourishment, and play. Without these, they lose their strength and spirit.
The message for me this year is not to work harder, but to become more playful.
And if I’m honest, that’s not an easy lesson. I love my work. It’s meaningful, it supports my family, and it can easily become my favourite distraction.
But the Fire Horse is asking for something different.
More lightness.
More laughter.
More enjoyment of the journey itself.
So if you choose to join me this year, know that this will be part of the path. Alongside the deep work, there will be space for humour, play, and appreciation of what is already good.
Transformation doesn’t always come through intensity.
Sometimes it arrives through joy.
If This Isn’t Your Path — Right Now
Not everyone is meant to walk the same road, and not every year calls for the same level of commitment.
If a year-long journey doesn’t feel right at this moment, that doesn’t mean you ignore the call of the Fire Horse. It simply means you listen to how your system wants to move.
For some, one-to-one work feels safer — a quieter, more contained space.
For others, a cacao ceremony offers exactly the opening that’s needed — a gentle yet powerful way back to the heart.
Both are valid.
Both can be deeply transformative.
What matters most in a Fire Horse year is not which path you choose, but that you choose consciously.
Whether you join The Shaman’s Way, work with me privately, sit in circle, or walk your own path entirely — know that this year supports movement, honesty, and courage.
And however you meet it, don’t meet it passively.
Let the Fire Horse work with you.
All you need to do is choose to take the reins.
