Beyond the Ordinary: A Path to Deeper Seeing

Life can sometimes feel flat, even boring, when we're not walking a path that truly resonates with our unique way of seeing and being. Each of us holds a distinct lens through which we perceive reality, and each of us has a unique gift to share with the world. Shamanism, far from being a dogmatic religion, offers a nature-based awakening to deeper layers of consciousness. It's an exploration of how you perceive reality, unlocking new perspectives and activating your innate gifts to profoundly enrich your life. One of our recent students, a psychotherapist and documentary filmmaker in her 60s, experienced this shift through 'The Shaman's Way' training. Her story serves as a powerful example of how this path can lead to a more vibrant and fulfilling existence.

Thank you to Mabelle for the beautiful quote that follows:

“The only expectation I had was expanding my therapeutic vocabulary. Psychotherapy-speak felt too constricted, too bound up with the overwhelming centrality of the individual. Having always worked contextually, the tension of the relationship between inner and outer reality has always concerned me. I found some resonance and meaningful engagement in eco-psychotherapy, but the lack of ritual and practice left me wanting something more defined.

The Shaman’s Way Training has broadened and engaged my understanding, not just of myself, but of the natural world and its deep and positive interaction with us - if we let it.  I have seen myself grow in confidence in areas I had neglected or devalued …. like my love of plants, attachment to rocks and stones and deep affinity with the natural world in all its varied manifestations. Having worked in environmental issues I knew I was not alone, yet on a day to day level, my alienation grew. The Shaman’s Way has given me validation at a very profound level.

For me, the most powerful aspect of the course is the deep respect that underpins Sorrell’s teaching and attitude. This engenders and facilitates acceptance of self, others and of ideas which, frankly, I had not ever engaged with. The generosity embedded in the rites was both humbling and empowering.

I believe the training is manifesting through my gardening, the discipline of practicing rituals and meditation, with attention to herbal effects on body and mind. It was fascinating how some plants simply were not for me at this point in my life whist others were a joy to be with. I manifest my intentions for life on a daily basis now and they feed into the congruence of my values. I have found a path which does not leave the individual holding knowledge and insight about their specific history alone; but allows us to place that knowledge within a universal and cosmic evolution. Paradoxically, this is very helpful to living in the present moment.

My favourite parts were the people, the herbs, building my Mesa (a shamanic tool, also known as a medicine bundle) and the deep effect of the Munay Ki Rites given to us by Sorrell - in kindness, seriousness and with a playful smile in equal measure.  Oh, and walking through her herb garden, where she holds ceremony, watching the seasons change. Sanctuaries within and without.”

Like Mabelle, are you sensing a call to break free from old ways of seeing – the ingrained societal imprints and even the epigenetic stories we've inherited? Are you searching for a way of healing yourself and others, the animals, plants or the Earth as a whole?

The Shaman’s Way journey is about finding your truest self, rediscovering your innate connections to the natural world, and deepening those bonds. It's about rewilding your soul, freeing your mind from limitations, and sensing the profound one-love vibration that our Earth, our Universe has to share. It is also about healing. we begin with our own hearts, and from there the healing ripples out, and we can make a difference to the collective, too.
