Awakening the Sacred Masculine
🔥 Reclaiming Strength, Integrity & Inner Fire
“Where have all the good men gone?”
It’s a question I’ve heard again and again - from women with broken hearts, from men who feel lost, and from those in between who’ve never been given a map.
In my 13 Moons course, the Sacred Masculine session is often the most triggering of all. And what arises is an ancient, ancestral wounding. We carry sorrow for the fathers who couldn’t stay, the partners who didn’t know how to love, the protectors who turned to predators. We approach the masculine with tension, grief and mistrust.
But it’s not just about defeating toxic masculinity - it’s about the pain we feel from the absence of the sacred masculine too.
As we face the deep grief that so many of us carry:
Grief for the fathers who weren’t there.
Grief for the lovers who couldn’t hold us.
Grief for the parts of ourselves that learned to fear masculine energy, because it hurt us, because we were abandoned, or because it was never shown to us in its sacred form.
We carry rage - for the silencing, the suppression, the loss.
We carry confusion - for what masculinity even means anymore.
And under all of it, we carry a deep, holy yearning to remember:
The Sacred Masculine is not lost.
It had been buried.
And now… it is ready to rise again - in you.
🌲 The Sacred Masculine is Not Dominance. It Is Devotion.
True masculinity has nothing to do with control, stoicism, or superiority.
It’s not about “being the provider” or hiding emotion behind a hardened shell.
We’ve been sold a shallow version of masculinity.
One that equates power with dominance.
Emotion with weakness.
Success with silence.
But the Sacred Masculine is something altogether different.
It is the mountain—rooted, vast, unshakable.
It is the tree—firm yet flexible, sheltering all who rest beneath it.
It is the flame—warming, illuminating, never needing to destroy to shine.
The Sacred Masculine is fierce devotion.
It’s loyalty. Responsibility. Protection.
It’s the kind of strength that doesn’t break things—but holds them.
Whether you are a man, woman, nonbinary, or fluid in between, the Sacred Masculine lives in all of us.
It is time we remember him.
💔 First, We Grieve
Healing the masculine means facing the wound—not pretending it’s not there.
Before the Sacred Masculine can be reawakened, we must grieve the ways it has been distorted, shamed, or lost:
The fathers who were absent—physically, emotionally, spiritually.
The boys who were told not to cry, not to feel, not to need.
The men who carried unspoken burdens and broke under the weight.
The systems that exploit rather than protect, dominate rather than serve.
And our grief is a holy fire. It is sacred. It is collective. And through it, something powerful is reborn.
🔥 Reclaiming the Sacred Masculine Within
Healing the Sacred Masculine is not about fixing men.
It’s about restoring balance—within us, between us, and around us.
This is the part of you that:
Speaks your truth without apology.
Shows up with consistency and care.
Builds the foundation for growth.
Sets boundaries that protect what matters most.
Holds presence through discomfort, not power over others.
In our healing circles, we don’t chase outdated models of masculinity.
Instead, we reconnect with sacred roles that feel rooted, alive, and relevant to our lives today.
🌳 The Guardian
A steady presence. The one who watches the fire, keeps the perimeter, and creates safe space for others to thrive. The Guardian is not aggressive - but deeply grounded in service and protection.
🥾 The Steward
The masculine as caretaker of land, kin, and community. He is humble, attentive, and devoted - not to control, but to nurture life with integrity and skill.
🐗 The Wild One
Untamed, authentic, and fully alive. The Wild One moves with instinct and intuition - connected to nature, to emotion, and to spirit. He is the wind whistling through the trees. He reminds us that sacredness doesn’t always sit still or speak softly - it sometimes dances barefoot and dares to feel everything.
🕊 The Peacekeeper
Not a pushover, but a bridge. One who transforms conflict into clarity. The Peacekeeper brings emotional maturity, discernment, and the strength to choose harmony without losing self.
🔥 The Firekeeper
The one who tends the flame - of truth, of purpose, of lineage. He remembers the ancient ways and passes them on with reverence, lighting the way without burning others.
🌿 Plant Allies of the Sacred Masculine
As with the sacred feminine, we are supported by wise green allies - plants who embody the Sacred Masculine’s qualities of strength, resilience, clarity, and grounded energy.
🌳 Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)
Known as the “strength of the stallion,” this ancient Ayurvedic root helps restore vitality, calm the nervous system, and support masculine energy - both physically and energetically.
Ashwagandha helps us hold steady in times of stress, building inner reserves rather than burning out. It’s perfect for those learning to be dependable - to themselves, and to others.
🔥 Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
This aromatic herb clears the mind, sharpens focus, and fortifies the adrenal glands and the heart. In folklore, rosemary was associated with remembrance - and in this work, it helps us remember who we are born to be.
Rosemary awakens clarity, strengthens boundaries, and burns through fog - inner or outer. It supports the masculine qualities of discernment and purpose.
🪵 Maca Root (Lepidium meyenii)
Grown high in the Andes, maca brings energy, stamina, and hormonal balance. But beyond the physical, maca supports deep rootedness - a connection to your base, your will, your primal life force.
Maca teaches that healthy masculine energy is grounded, embodied, and alive - not performative or aggressive.
Each of these plants reminds us that the Sacred Masculine is already within us.
We simply need to feed it, honour it, and listen.
✨ Ceremony, Sound & Ancestral Remembrance
In our ceremonies, we go far beyond abstract ideas of healing.
We walk with the ancestors. We listen. We learn.
We uncover the stories that shaped them—stories of war, poverty, famine, and fear.
We meet the ways they were silenced, hardened, indoctrinated by patriarchal religions that stripped them of tenderness and connection.
But we also remember the other side:
The nature-connected ones.
The fathers who nurtured.
The brothers who protected.
The grandfathers who loved deeply and guided with gentleness.
We reclaim the Sacred Masculine by honouring both the pain and the potential in our lineage.
Not to dwell in the past—but to liberate the future.
The gongs I work with also call in powerful archetypal healing energies of the Sacred Masculine:
Chiron, the wounded healer
Neptune, the mystic and dreamer
Mercury, the communicator and truth-bringer
These planetary allies help us balance power with wisdom, and heal from the distortion of domination, suppression, and shame that still echo in the masculine field today.
In our drum circles, we remember another truth: Historically, it was the women who drummed. Around 8,000 years ago, during the Neolithic era before patriarchy took hold, women led the rhythm of the tribe, held the pulse of ceremony, and opened the way for communal healing.
Now—we are ready to walk together.
No more hierarchy. No more fear.
Let us meet in the middle. Let us listen and drum and sing as equals.
Let us walk the Rainbow Bridge—side by side—restoring harmony between the Sacred Feminine and the Sacred Masculine within us all.
🗣️ Voices from the Journey
“After exploring the story of what it means to embody the qualities of the sacred masculine during the 13 moons training, I feel, for the first time in my life, really proud to be a man. Because I recognised my strength is in being the very emotional person I am! I have powerful feelings, and I love deeply, I can protect, support, and hold others better because I have such a deep feelings and compassion for others. I was brought up to believe my emotional personality was a weakness, but now, this feels like sacred masculinity to me.”
– James, 13 Moons participant“I’ve never identified with either gender fully. But the sessions in the 13 moon journey, specifically exploring the Sacred Feminine and Sacred Masculine archetypes helped me reclaim the right to choose what kind of strength lives in me - and embody it on my terms.”
– River (they/them), 13 Moons participantAfter my divorce, at age 56, I was done. I couldn’t even say the word “sacred” next to “masculine” without gagging. But something in me was curious. Cautious. And probably still a little hopeful. In circle, I didn’t get pushed to forgive. I was invited to feel. To meet the grief, the anger, the part of me that had loved deeply and lost. And slowly… I began to remember the men I do love. An art teacher who inspired me as a child. A dear friend who always shows up if I need help. My friends boy children - they are love and light in their purest form! I’m still angry at the world, to be honest. But now I can hold that and hold the possibility that something sacred still exists in the masculine. That’s more than I expected. And I’m grateful.

🌕 You were never too fierce. Never too far gone.
You are not the wound - you are the one who kept walking even though you were wounded.
You were never meant to carry the burdens of this world alone.
Before the armour, before the silence… you were sacred.
And you still are…
You are rising.
Not to conquer, but to restore.
Not to dominate, but to protect.
Not with force, but with presence.
You carry the sword of truth and the cup of compassion.
You remember what the world forgot.
This is the return of the Sacred Masculine.
And it begins with you.
