Walking the Shaman’s Way
An Interview with Sorrell Robbins
Step into a fireside conversation with Sorrell Robbins—Plant Spirit Medicine Woman, gifted healer, and visionary guide behind The Shaman’s Way. In this illuminating interview, she opens the gateway to a year-long odyssey of soul-deep transformation, sacred ceremony, and spiritual reawakening.
Q: For those who don’t know you, could you briefly introduce yourself and explain what The Shaman’s Way is?
Sorrell: Thank you for having me. I’m Sorrell Robbins, also known as the Plant Spirit Medicine Woman. I’ve spent the last 30 years immersed in global shamanic and herbal traditions.
The Shaman’s Way is a deeply transformative year-long journey of shamanic wisdom, plant spirit medicine, and spiritual healing. Over the course of thirteen moons, we gather in a sacred circle once each moon cycle for ceremony, teachings, and soulful connection. It’s a guided odyssey for all who feel called to awaken, heal, and step fully into their spiritual power.
The program is crafted for seekers who feel an inner call to explore the shamanic path, heal themselves, and awaken spiritually. In essence, it’s a journey to heal, awaken, and transform every aspect of yourself.
Q: What inspired you to create this year-long journey?
Sorrell: I was inspired to create this program because I saw how powerful these ancient practices were in my own life, and I wanted to share them in a comprehensive, nurturing container.
This journey is really the culmination of my life’s work. I’ve been walking the shamanic path and working with plant medicine for over 30 years. Through extensive global training and personal healing experiences, I gathered so much wisdom and so many powerful practices. The Shaman’s Way is a space where we heal, awaken, and transform together in community.
I envisioned a year-long container where I could pass on the initiations and teachings I’ve received—from the Q’ero shamans of Peru to the herbal traditions of Europe—and guide others through deep personal transformation. The Shaman’s Way emerged from that vision, weaving together everything that had profoundly impacted my own journey. I wanted to create a safe, sacred space for people to awaken their inner shaman and step into their power, supported by community and ancient wisdom.
Q: The program is a year-long, spanning 13 moons. How is The Shaman’s Way structured, and why did you choose this year-long format?
Sorrell: We begin at the Spring or Autumn Equinox and meet monthly, in person, in a small group of no more than eight. Each gathering is themed and includes luminous ceremony, teaching, shamanic journeying, plant spirit work, and integration practices.
Deep transformation takes time. By journeying together for a full cycle of seasons, we align with nature’s rhythms and allow each person to gradually unfold at their own pace. The monthly structure gives you time in between sessions to integrate what you’ve learned and to practise on your own. It’s like a spiral journey—each month we build on the last, and by the end of the year you’ve come full circle with a profound sense of growth.
For example, one moon we might focus on soul retrieval, another on ancestral healing, or manifestation. We journey with different plant allies—Mugwort, Rose, Nettle, Calendula—and learn how to create remedies and build relationships with the spirits of these plants.
Participants also receive a series of sacred initiations known as the Munay Ki rites—energetic transmissions that activate your inner healer and connect you with ancient Andean lineages. Between sessions, I offer practices to integrate the teachings into your daily life. It’s a spiral path around the medicine wheel, syncing with nature’s rhythm and your soul’s unfolding.
Q: Who is this program for? Is The Shaman’s Way suitable for someone completely new to shamanism or spiritual work?
Sorrell: Absolutely. The Shaman’s Way is open to anyone who feels the call—you don’t need any prior experience in shamanism, meditation, or spiritual work to join us. This programme is designed to meet you exactly where you are.
One of the beautiful things about the journey is the diverse range of people it attracts. We’ve welcomed complete beginners as well as those who’ve explored healing or energy practices before, and everyone finds their place here.
Most of our participants tend to be women who resonate with spirituality, earth-based wisdom, or the divine feminine—but this isn’t a women-only course. All are welcome. The circle always forms as a supportive, compassionate group of like-minded souls. Whether you’re seasoned or new to this kind of work, if your heart is whispering, “I’m curious,” or “this is for me,” then you belong here.
All you really need is an open heart and a willingness to explore. If you feel drawn to connect more deeply with yourself, nature, and spirit, you’ll be held in a safe, sacred container where your individual pace and process are honoured. We’re just ordinary people walking an extraordinary path together—and there’s space for you on it.
Q: Could you give an overview of what participants actually do during The Shaman’s Way? What kinds of practices, ceremonies, or lessons can someone expect over the 13 moons?
Sorrell: Yes, it’s a richly layered, year-long journey that begins at Equinox and follows the cycle of 13 moons. We gather in person once a moon, in a small group of no more than eight participants. Each gathering is a full ceremonial immersion—part sacred circle, part workshop, part deep soul healing.
Every month we focus on a unique theme aligned with the shamanic medicine wheel and the energies of the season. These themes guide us through key aspects of spiritual growth such as soul retrieval, ancestral healing, energy protection, manifestation, and more. For example, we might begin the year with soul retrieval and dreaming, then move into protection rites, manifestation work, and connecting with ancestral wisdom.
Each session includes luminous ceremonies to open sacred space, guided shamanic journeying using drum or gong, and hands-on experience with plant spirit medicine. Every moon we meet a new plant ally—such as Mugwort, Rose, Calendula, or Nettle—and work with their spiritual gifts through teas, essences, meditations, and rituals. Participants learn to form meaningful relationships with these green allies and craft vibrational remedies or herbal medicine as part of the experience.
A core aspect of the programme is the transmission of the Munay Ki rites—ten sacred initiations from the shamans of the high Andes. These energetic rites are delivered in ceremony and include powerful tools like the Healer’s Rite and Bands of Power. They serve as spiritual “upgrades” that awaken your inner healer and strengthen your connection to ancient lineages.
Throughout the course, participants also build their own mesa—a personal medicine bundle made of sacred stones infused with intention and energy. This becomes a potent tool for divination, healing, and spiritual practice.
We also weave in other creative and experiential practices such as mandala making, cacao ceremonies, lucid dreaming, and ritual work with the elements and directions. Between gatherings, I offer nature-based integration practices—like meditations, journaling prompts, or simple rituals—so the journey continues throughout the month in your own life.
By the end of the 13 moons, participants will have experienced a complete, spiral journey around the medicine wheel. They emerge with deeper self-awareness, grounded spiritual tools, and a profound connection to the rhythms of nature, the wisdom of plants, and their own soul’s power.
Q: Sorrell, your title “Plant Spirit Medicine Woman” hints at the importance of plants in this journey. Can you explain the role of plant spirit medicine in
Sorrell: Plants are absolutely at the heart of this journey. In The Shaman’s Way, every moon we welcome a new plant spirit teacher—such as Mugwort, Rose, Calendula, or Nettle—and form a relationship with that plant’s consciousness. This isn’t just about studying herbs; it’s about connecting with the plant’s spirit as a wise, living being that offers healing, guidance, and support.
Each gathering includes practices to deepen this relationship: drinking the plant as tea or essence, journeying to meet its spirit in meditation or trance, and participating in rituals that invite its energy to work with us. For example, Mugwort may guide your dreams and expand your vision, while Rose may bring emotional healing and heart-opening. These plants become trusted allies, not just for the programme, but for life.
We also learn hands-on medicine making—how to craft vibrational plant essences and herbal remedies that carry the energetic imprint of the plant. This is about tuning into the soul of the plant, not just its physical properties. Participants gain the tools and confidence to create their own plant medicines and continue working with plant spirit allies long after the journey ends.
Why are plants so central? Because they root us in nature, in ancestral memory, and in the wisdom of the Earth. In indigenous traditions—and in this work—plants are our elders. They offer us balance, healing, and connection to the sacred. Working with them brings us back to ourselves and into harmony with the world around us.
By the end of the 13 moons, participants have developed deep, personal connections with a circle of plant allies. Many share that their connection to nature becomes profoundly richer, and that they feel held and supported by the green world in ways they never imagined. It’s truly a return to ancient ways of healing—made relevant and real for modern seekers.
Q: You mentioned the Munay Ki Rites earlier, which come from the Andean shamanic tradition. Could you tell us a bit more about these initiations and why you include them in The Shaman’s Way?
Sorrell: The Munay Ki rites are a series of nine sacred energetic initiations from the shamans of the High Andes in Peru. The phrase “Munay Ki” means “love in action” in Quechua, and that really captures the spirit of these rites. They’re energetic transmissions designed to awaken your healing gifts, elevate your vibration, and connect you with an ancient lineage of wisdom keepers, healers, seers, earth keepers, and medicine people.
Each rite is received ceremonially, one per moon, throughout the programme. First, you receive the Healer’s Rite, which activates your capacity to channel healing energy and aligns you with luminous healers from the past and present. Next, you’ll receive the Bands of Power—five energetic belts woven into your energy field that serve as spiritual protection. There are rites for harmonising the chakras with archetypes (the Harmony Rites), for awakening intuitive sight (the Seer’s Rite), and for deepening connection to your soul’s path (the Creator’s Rite). We also include the Rite of the Womb—a deeply healing transmission that empowers and restores the sacred feminine energy within.
These initiations are so much more than ceremonial rituals—they’re catalysts for transformation. Participants often report tangible shifts after receiving a rite: increased sensitivity to energy, vivid dreams, emotional release, or an immediate sense of being more protected and empowered. It’s like planting seeds of light in your energy field that grow and blossom over time.
I include the Munay Ki rites in The Shaman’s Way because they bring something profound and ineffable to the journey. They open doorways in the soul, offering both healing and empowerment. They also root you in an ancient tradition, creating a deep sense of connection with those who’ve walked this path before you. By the end of the 13 moons, participants not only embody these energies in their own lives, but some choose to continue the lineage by learning how to pass the rites on to others.
It’s one of the most beloved aspects of the course—a sacred thread that weaves through the entire journey, inviting each person to step more fully into their light, purpose, and power.
Q: Community seems to be an important element of this program. You keep the groups small – only 8 participants. Why is that, and what does the group experience add to The Shaman’s Way?
Sorrell: With only eight people, no one gets lost in the crowd. Everyone is seen, heard, and held. This trust and safety are vital when you're doing deep emotional and spiritual work. Vulnerability becomes possible. People feel comfortable opening up, sharing their stories, and processing deep healing experiences without fear of judgement. That level of support is incredibly powerful.
As the facilitator, it also allows me to really tune into each individual’s journey. I learn your story, your blocks, your gifts—and I can offer personalised guidance, whether that’s during a ceremony, in a group share, or one-to-one if something arises. The other group members step into that role too. They hold space, offer comfort, and become cheerleaders for each other’s breakthroughs. Many participants form friendships that continue well beyond the programme.
Another beautiful outcome is the sense of belonging that blossoms. Many people walking a spiritual path feel isolated—maybe their family or social circle doesn’t fully understand their journey. But in this circle, you’re surrounded by others who speak the same heart-language. There’s instant resonance. The shared laughter, tears, meals, rituals, and sacred moments create a bond that feels timeless.
By the end, it’s common to hear, “I’ve finally found my tribe.” That kind of camaraderie and mutual support is deeply healing—it anchors the transformation and reminds you that you’re not walking alone. It’s not just what we do in the programme, it’s who we do it with that makes it so powerful.
Q: You’ve guided several groups through this journey now. What kind of transformations or outcomes have you witnessed in people who complete The Shaman’s Way?
Sorrell: This is where the true magic of The Shaman’s Way reveals itself. By the end of the 13-moon journey, people often say they feel reborn—as if they’ve come home to themselves in a way they didn’t even realise they needed.
Many share that they hardly recognise the person they were when they began, in the most beautiful and empowering way. It’s truly heart-opening to witness the transformations that unfold during The Shaman’s Way. They can be both profound and practical—shifts that ripple through every layer of a person’s life. I’ve seen people arrive feeling lost, burned out, or burdened, and by the end of 13 moons, they are radiant—lighter, brighter, and deeply empowered.
Participants often experience profound healing—emotional, spiritual, and even physical. Old wounds, ancestral trauma, or long-held emotional burdens begin to lift. There’s a shift from confusion to clarity, from self-doubt to trust. People awaken their inner healer, discover spiritual gifts they didn’t know they had, and step into new paths with confidence—sometimes even changing careers or realigning their life purpose as a result of the clarity they find.
One participant, after a couple of emotionally rocky years, shared that she finally felt “lighter and brighter,” like she had shed a heavy cloak she’d worn for far too long. Another said she released controlling thoughts and patterns that had held her back for years, stepping into what she called “a new, more beautiful me.” These kinds of breakthroughs—emotional release, reclaiming one’s voice, shedding old layers—are common throughout the journey.
The group circle often becomes a cherished sanctuary. Many say it’s their favourite day of the month—a sacred pause where they feel safe, seen, and supported by kindred spirits. That sense of belonging is powerful. I remember one woman in her fifties saying, “At last, I feel like I belong.” For those who have felt different or spiritually disconnected for much of their life, this is a profound homecoming.
On a healing level, participants have released trauma they didn’t even realise they were carrying. Whether it’s during a soul retrieval, a rite, or a ceremonial gong healing session, people experience deep energetic shifts. These aren’t just workshop moments—they ripple into daily life. Families and friends often notice the changes. One woman’s family commented on how much happier and more centred she had become—and she noticed it too, in her relationships and work.
Internally, they cultivate a deeper trust in themselves and their intuition. There’s a blossoming sense of empowerment, of standing tall in one’s truth and authenticity. Many describe feeling lighter, freer, and more connected—to spirit, to nature, and to a tribe that truly sees and supports them. That sense of belonging, both to the Earth and to a spiritual community, is often one of the most healing aspects of the experience.
And beyond healing, there’s empowerment. They don’t just leave with memories—they leave with practical tools: the ability to conduct personal ceremonies, journey for guidance, connect with plant spirits, and create energetic protections. These are lifelong skills that continue to support them long after the programme ends. Most importantly, they walk away with their inner light fully switched on. They feel powerful, connected, and clear in their purpose.
It’s not just a course—it’s a soul activation. A remembering of who you truly are. And for me as a teacher, watching that awakening is the most beautiful part of all. It’s a holistic transformation—body, mind, spirit, and even external life circumstances shift. The Shaman’s Way doesn’t just teach; it activates something ancient and powerful within each person. They walk away more grounded, joyful, and aligned—truly luminous in their own unique medicine.
Q: What makes The Shaman’s Way unique compared to other spiritual or shamanic courses?
Sorrell: The Shaman’s Way stands apart because of its depth, intimacy, and holistic integration of diverse traditions. It’s not just another course—it’s a year-long immersive journey designed to bring about lasting transformation.
First, the time commitment itself is rare. Over 13 moons, we meet monthly in sacred circle, creating a rhythm that allows real change to take root. Unlike weekend workshops or short intensives, this extended format gives space for deep integration. Each month becomes a touchstone—something participants look forward to and rely on for support, reflection, and growth.
Second, the intimacy of the group is a game-changer. With only eight participants, each person is seen and supported. You’re not just another face in a crowd; you become part of a close-knit spiritual family. This sacred container allows for vulnerability, deep trust, and powerful personal connections. Many graduates say they found their tribe, forged lifelong friendships, and experienced healing simply through the shared journey.
Third, the course is a rich tapestry of global wisdom traditions. I bring together over 30 years of experience across Andean, Mayan, Celtic, and Northern European paths—interwoven with sound healing, plant spirit medicine, and hands-on practices. From receiving the Munay Ki rites to creating vibrational essences, from shamanic journeying and fire ceremonies to dreamwork and divination, you experience a broad and cohesive range of sacred tools. It’s rare to find such breadth delivered in such an integrated, grounded way.
But what truly makes it special is that personal transformation is at the heart of everything. Every teaching, ceremony, and practice is designed to help you heal, awaken, and remember who you truly are. Participants release old patterns, activate their intuition, reclaim lost soul parts, and step into their power with grace. One graduate described it as “illuminating, warm, and enriching,” and that beautifully captures the essence.
So yes, there are other programmes out there—but The Shaman’s Way is unique in how it blends the mystical with the practical, the spiritual with the everyday, and the personal with the collective. You come away not only with knowledge, but with a deep sense of belonging, a renewed sense of self, and a toolkit of practices to carry forward into every aspect of your life.
Q: This journey can be life-changing. However, committing to a year-long program is a big step. What would you say to someone who feels drawn to The Shaman’s Way but is a bit nervous or unsure about leaping?
Sorrell: I completely understand that feeling—committing to a year-long journey of spiritual growth can feel daunting. It’s natural to have questions and nerves, especially when something feels deeply meaningful. But if you’re feeling that quiet inner whisper, that tug in your heart, I encourage you to trust it. There’s a reason you’re drawn to this path.
One participant said, “If you are feeling overwhelmed with life, lost, or just need guidance, please join The Shaman’s Way – you will not be disappointed.” I really stand by that, because I pour my heart into making this a deeply held, life-changing space for everyone who comes.
Often it’s the mind that raises concerns—“Is this the right time?” or “What if I’m not ready?”—but I’ve found that those butterflies usually mean something important is stirring. Growth often begins right at the edge of our comfort zone.
What I can promise is that you won’t be doing this alone. When you join The Shaman’s Way, you’re stepping into a safe, sacred space held by me and shared with a small group of kindred spirits. We walk together. Whether you’re brand new to this kind of work or already on a spiritual path, you’ll be gently guided and supported every step of the way. You’ll have me as your guide, a sacred circle of kindred spirits beside you, and a whole host of spirit allies at your back. Yes, it’s a commitment—but it’s a commitment to yourself: to your healing, your growth, your joy.
And it’s okay to be nervous—that’s actually quite common. I offer free discovery calls so we can have a one-on-one chat. You can ask questions, get a feel for the journey, and see if it truly resonates. That conversation alone often brings clarity.
So I would say: honour your feelings, but don’t let fear make the decision for you. If a part of you feels lit up—this could be a beautiful opportunity to grow in ways you haven’t yet imagined. The group is small and welcoming, and we create a deeply nurturing environment. Once you sit in that first circle, the nervousness usually melts into a sense of homecoming.
Trust your intuition. If it’s saying yes, especially if it is a quiet inner-child-like whisper, let’s explore it together. I’m always here to connect and help you sense into whether this is the right time and the right path for you.
Q: Where can people learn more or sign up?
Sorrell: The best place to begin is the course page on my website: www.plantspiritmedicinewoman.com/theshamansway-2026-march. There you’ll find full details—the curriculum, dates, and an invitation to secure your place. I also offer free Discovery Calls. These are informal chats where you can ask your personal questions, get a feel for me and the journey, and we can sense together whether it’s a fit. There’s absolutely no pressure—just a heart-led conversation.
The next cohort begins in March 2026, and we only accept eight people to keep the circle intimate. We do tend to fill up, so if you’re feeling called, I’d encourage reaching out sooner rather than later.
So, to sum up: visit the website, take a look at the journey, and if it speaks to you, let’s talk. It would be an honour to walk this sacred path with you. The Shaman’s Way is a truly life-changing odyssey, and if your spirit is stirring, perhaps now is the time to say yes.
